Mobilising Geo Supporter for the Campaign

Seahorse supplied the AHTS Geo Supporter and its operating crew to tow a jack-up rig from Singapore to Block M5/M6 and subsequently support PTTEP’s offshore drilling campaign.

The assignment required more than vessel availability. Geo Supporter had to meet the project’s towing requirements, mobilise within the confirmed operating window, and remain prepared for offshore support duties once the rig reached the field.

With a bollard pull of 151 tonnes and a 150-tonne main towing winch, Geo Supporter provided the capability required for the towage and drilling-support scope.

Responding to a Changing Mobilisation Schedule

The principal challenge arose before mobilisation, when changes to the client’s wider drilling programme affected the campaign timeline and vessel planning.

Seahorse reviewed the availability of Geo Supporter, coordinated alternative vessel options, and remained closely aligned with the client as the schedule developed. When the revised mobilisation window was confirmed and Geo Supporter was selected for the assignment, the company realigned its vessel plan and prepared the vessel and crew for deployment to Singapore.

This ability to respond quickly was essential in keeping vessel availability aligned with the revised drilling programme.

Coordinated Offshore Execution

Once mobilised, the operation required continuous coordination between Seahorse’s onshore vessel-management team, the offshore crew, and the client.

Weather and current conditions required the crew to maintain situational awareness and adapt the operation to actual field conditions. Throughout the campaign, the focus remained on safe vessel operations, clear communication, and reliable support for the drilling programme.

Project Outcome

The assignment was completed after approximately 28 operating days, meeting the project’s technical and scheduling requirements.
